God made us so that we could have relationship with him and be complete.
Jesus’s sacrificial love made the way.
God designed us to have an intimate relationship with Him. When we have this we feel complete and content in His love. Do you have a sense of needing some fulfilment in your life, but don’t know exactly what? Do you find it doesn’t matter how many things you buy or do, there’s still something missing? Are there things in your life which you want to change, but don’t know how? Jesus is the answer.
He gave us freewill so we could freely love him. Our self-centredness and independence separates us from Him. He is perfect and separate from sin. Perfect in love, perfect in justice, full of grace and mercy. Wars and famines arise out of self-centred ambition for power and wealth. God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son Jesus, that whosever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal live.
Jesus took all our sin on the cross as the only just sacrifice for the world. His heavenly Father abandoned Him, but Jesus rose victorious, for us, with the authority over life and death. Now we can live in his freedom. Jesus wants to share his life with us, he ultimately wants us to know our heavenly Father. We don’t deserve it and we can’t earn it, but Jesus freely gives it. He’s knocking on the door of your heart waiting to be let in, he can’t let himself in, you have to let Him in first. We can’t earn it, we don’t deserve it, but Jesus freely gives us His love and freedom (see this Youtube video by Central Films).
If you wish to open your heart to God and start a relationship with Him, speak to Him like you would another person (he knows the number of hairs on your head and all your thoughts, he is listening). Below is an example salvation prayer (asking God into your life), it is important that this is said from the heart, it can be said privately on your own or with others:
Thank you Jesus that you died on on cross for our sins. You rose to life so that I can rise into freedom to live in relationship with you day by day.
I ask that you take my sin, all my sin (give details if it helps, Jesus loves openness).
I ask for you to be the centre of my life, I ask for you to be my freedom, my life, my strength, my friend, to meet my every need.
