Loving Others
Jesus tells us how to love other people, how to be perfectly loving like our Heavenly Father.
In Luke 6:27-36 and Matthew 5:38-48 He says to those who hear and obey Him:
- Love your enemies
- Do good to those who hate you
- Bless and show kindness to those who curse you
- Pray for those who mistreat you
- Take insults – whoever strikes you on one cheek, let him strike the other one too
- Whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either
- Whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back
- Give to everyone who asks of you
- Lend and don’t expect it back
- Treat others the same way you want them to treat you
If you love those who love you, and do good to those who do good to you, and lend to those you expect to receive it back from, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do this.
Love your enemies and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be abundant, and you will be sons of God, because He is kind, gracious and good to the ungrateful and to the wicked. So be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
The Lord gave me a dream where I was reading Ephesians 3:18 so I looked this up and the verses around it.
Ephesians 3:16-21 explains how we receive His power to love others well.
